The fact that currently between 40% and 50% of the population of patients with epilepsy do not have access to medicines, has made our objective the creation of an Emergency Medicine Bank, so that patients can meet their medication needs and have the treatment they deserve.
Since the educational level on the health of the Population is very low, as well as the educational level on epilepsy, it makes an important aspect the education of the patients and their families so that they are aware as much as possible of the reality that exists on epilepsy.
We know that information is crucial in any circumstance, that is why we aim to establish a virtual information center for patients and families (online and web), which in turn allows the formation of a network of patients and families to offer support: Coming soon.
As one of the other objectives, the LUCES foundation has proposed to establish a National Coordination Center that will be in charge of everything related to educational, labor and social issues.
We know that unity is strength, so we offer a program that aims to create a network between patients and parents, in order to encourage and provide support for everyone.
Epilepsy surgery is being done under a specialized program with New York University (NYU) physicians and surgeons. The program has performed two surgical days where more than 15 children underwent surgery in 2013-14 in the children's hospital with excellent results.
LUCES is supporting this program through funding and patient coordination.
